October 20th, 2023 - Charles Kruger of Theatrestorm reviews The Engine of Our Disruption produced by Central Works
I like "charismatically snarky," but I absolutely love that Mike got "creepy as all get out" -- That phrase is so inexplicably amusing to me!October 18th, 2023 - Patricia L. Morin of Theatrius reviews The Engine of Our Disruption produced by Central Works
Spot-on, baby! (And a delight!) I'm really happy people are liking this show! <3October 18th, 2023 - Emily S. Mendel of Berkeleyside reviews The Engine of Our Disruption produced by Central Works
I perform the bro "perfectly"! This makes me very happy 'cause Chip is verrrrrrry different from me! I'm glad it's convincing.October 17th, 2023 - Jean Schiffman of SF Gate reviews The Engine of Our Disruption produced by Central Works
I am implacable and smirky! Forgive me for being excited, but this is the first time I've gotten an adjective since BEFORE the pandemic...!!March 5th, 2023 - Patrick Thomas of Talkin' Broadway reviews Tea Party produced by One of Our Own
This one doesn't mention me at all, but you know what? This one was such a different process compared to the usual gig and I want to remember it.March 2nd, 2023 - Juliette Goodrich of CBS does a segment on Erin Merritt and Tea Party produced by One of Our Own
It's not every day that the show you're working on gets featured in the news! CBS news comes by to interview Erin and watch us rehearse! There's been lots of articles on the process, but being in the news feels so... I dunno, validating? The process hasn't always been smooth, but it has always been filled with humor. -
July 29th, 2022 - Lily Janiak of the San Francisco Chronicle reviews Dream Hou$e produced by Shotgun Players
I mean, it doesn't mention anything specific that I do, but like, this show was hard and we were all surprised she liked it for, ya know, reasons. So yay!July 26th, 2022 - Emily S. Mendel of Berkeleyside reviews Dream Hou$e produced by Shotgun Players
This one doesn't mention the crew characters at all, but like... dang, she was affected. This was the first review that came out, and we were so happy! -
(INSERT PANDEMIC HERE... sigh.)
There was one project during these early days that's worth mentioning and that's Town Hall Theatre's fundraiser: FantasticLand! No reviews, but...

January 28th, 2020 - Jim Gladstone of the Bay Area Reporter reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
An unpredictably halting deadpan AND joint perfect comic timing with Nick? Yaaasss. I like this review. <3January 25th, 2020 - Robert M. Gardner of Theatrius reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
We all got different adjectives; Mine was "spacy." Ha! I actually like it.January 25th, 2020 - Steve Murray of Broadway World reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
Freddie's the first character like this that I've ever had to play... Now I know what to call this: the quiet drifter type!January 23rd, 2020 - Krista Pearl McAtee of Theatrius reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
I honestly just really like the look I'm giving Karen, Nick, and his triangle in the picture they used.January 20th, 2020 - Lily Janiak of the San Francisco Chronicle reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
We got the leaping man! We got the leaping man! We were all so excited when we found out!January 19th, 2020 - Eddie Reynolds of Theatre Eddys reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
It's hard to see monotone and think it's positive, but I was going for deadpan and kinda high, so I'll take it!January 2020 - Patrick Thomas of Talkin Broadway reviews How to Transcend a Happy Marriage produced by Custom Made Theatre Co.
Okay, this reviewer didn't like the show. But I'm putting this review up because he mentioned I played Freddie to the point of "couchlock movement" and I'm like "Is that a criticism...?" So I looked it up and I'm quite proud. Yes, Freddie is stoned. I've never done/smoked cannabis, so I'm quite proud I acted it. ^.^ -
May 2nd, 2019 - Sam Hurwitt of The Mercury News reviews The Importance of Being Earnest produced by Aurora Theatre Company
What makes me most happy about this review is that he cites a past show I've been in that was not in my online bio! :-)April 25th, 2019 - Emma Krasov reviews The Importance of Being Earnest produced by Aurora Theatre Company
Boom! In this review, I have proven that "there are no small roles." What a compliment! I'll take it! -
November 1st, 2018 - Sam Hurwitt of The Mercury News reviews Chekhov's Ward 6 produced by Central Works
I appreciate these adjectives: manically cackling, as well as dour and coldly condescending. :-)October 18th, 2018 - Rachel Norby of Theatrius reviews Chekhov's Ward 6 produced by Central Works
Oh snap! I'm versatile! I'll take it :-PJuly 3rd, 2018 - Victor Cordell of For All Events reviews Universal Robots produced by Quantum Dragon Theatre
And with this, we were officially noticed by the Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle! Woot!July 2nd, 2018 - Charles Lewis III of The Thinking Man's Idiot reviews Universal Robots produced by Quantum Dragon Theatre
Also good! I'll take it! :-)July 2nd, 2018 - Robert M. Gardner of Theatrius reviews Universal Robots produced by Quantum Dragon Theatre
Whooo!! FIRE!! But really though, I'm glad he mentioned Radosh. It's really important to me that people liked Radosh. -
May 24th, 2017 - Barry David Horwitz of Theatrius reviews Hedge produced by PlayGround
Not gonna lie. Had a pretty hard time with this role... Glad someone really enjoyed the show!. -
May 11th, 2016 - Vince Media of VMEDIA reviews The Most Dangerous Highway in the World produced by Golden Thread Productions
Not sure why I was classified as a "local favorite," but I'll take it. Also: Let it be known that I friggin' loved the people who worked on this show.March 13th, 2016 - Mark Rudio of A Beast in a Jungle reviews Civil produced by Quantum Dragon Theatre
"Nuanced"! I'll gladly take it! Especially since that was one of the most fun plays I've ever been in! So much fodder for my imagination! XDDecember 13th, 2015 - George Heymont of My Cultural Landscape reviews Sheherezade's Last Tales produced by the Playwrights' Center of San Francisco
"Took on one of the evening's most challenging roles" is admittedly the part that strokes my ego the most... but honestly, Young Matt was a much tougher one for me. I don't think I was ever really satisfied with my performance on that one...December 6th, 2015 - Barry David Horwitz of TheatreStorm reviews Sheherezade's Last Tales produced by the Playwrights' Center of San Francisco
Yay! I'm so happy that a small show like Sheherezade got a review! It definitely deserves one! And, in this case, it's also kind of a play-by-play... but I'll take it! Along with my "subtle physical suggestiveness, and clever straddling of the gender divide." Hehehe -
October 9th, 2015 - Carla Trujillo, Assistant Dean of Graduate Diversity at UC Berkeley, writes about integrating Berkeley Interactive Theater in the Graduate Student Instructor Teaching and Resource Center's August 2015 Teaching Conference
Do you see that audience!?!? (There was even an overflow room that livestreamed the performance!) Nearly a THOUSAND UC Berkeley GSI's attended this conference that we got to be (and will hopefully continue to be) a part of! The script we used was Active Participation, written by me, in collaboration with the Teaching Conference's Berkeley Interactive Theater Committee. And those numbers...!! For this kinda of work, those numbers are honestly pretty darned good!Side Note: Emilio is probably the most masculine character I have ever played. And this is probably one of the most fun scenes to rehearse!
September 18th, 2015 - Sam Hurwitt of the San Jose Mercury News reviews In Plain Sight produced by Those Women Productions
Do you see my muscles in that photo? Oh wait, that's Ed. Yay for miscaptioned photos! But in other news, heck yeah, I was a funny bird. And I'll never forget those sexy heels... (I think I saved a picture in my Gallery page...)April 29th, 2015 - Juan Lopez and Jose Gutierrez of The Corsair write about Berkeley Interactive Theater's Get It Right
We (Berkeley Interactive Theatre) were invited to Santa Monica College to help wrap up their Consent Month with our workshop of Get It Right (written by yours truly). This was the only time I've ever taken to plane trips in one day. One to fly to Santa Monica. One to fly back before the evening job started. Crazy. You can also kinda see my pouch for Atomos (my ileostomy bag) in that picture!
February 24th, 2015 - The Schedule for Day 1 of the National Conference on Campus Sexual Assault and Violence hosted by UC Berkeley
This isn't even an article or a review. It's merely a schedule... showing that one time Berkeley Interactive Theater was the KEYNOTE in a NATIONAL CONFERENCE.I mean, we've opened conferences before... but a NATIONAL CONFERENCE? I think that's pretty bad-ass, if I do say so myself.

December 8th, 2014 - Donald Munro of the Fresno Bee reviews In and Out of Shadows written by Gary Soto
Our touring show got a review when we toured it in Fresno! Awesome! And I pretty much agree with him! Though that part about the rap made me cringe. >.<Because I wrote those lyrics... or at least for *my* long rap... Ah well.
May 24th, 2014 - Ken Bullock of The Berkeley Daily Planet reviews The Crazed adapted by Sally Dawidoff
(and "Over the Tavern")My first big show! I mean, it's not even a sentence, but I'll happily take that parenthetical shout-out of being an "excellent utility man." ^.^
May 19th, 2014 - Charles Kruger of TheatreStorm reviews The Crazed adapted by Sally Dawidoff
My first big show! I mean, hey, it's one sentence, but I'll happily take that "great skill" mention. ^.^ -
September 10th, 2013 - Robert Avila of the San Francisco Bay Guardian reviews 52 Letters written and performed by Regina Evans
(as well as a few others in the SF Fringe Festival)No, I wasn't performing in this one. But other than PCN during my UC Berkeley years, this was my real-world directorial debut! Glad I got to have it with Reggie!
September 9th, 2013 - Robert Hurwitt of the SFGate reviews 52 Letters written and performed by Regina Evans
(as well as a few others in the SF Fringe Festival)No, I wasn't performing in this one. But other than PCN during my UC Berkeley years, this was my real-world directorial debut! Glad I got to have it with Reggie!
April 2nd, 2013 - George Heymont for the Huffington Post writes about In and Out of Shadows written by Gary Soto
Did I tell you about that time I was in a Youth Theatre when I was already 25? Well, yeah. It happened. Damn, I'm youthful.January 10th, 2013 - George Heymont for the Huffington Post reviews In the Silence of Tangerine Groves written by Patricia Milton
(as well as a few others in the SF Olympians Festival)I really do hope that if this show is ever produced, they'd consider casting me as Max. He's so much fun! And, apparently, I almost "stole the show." So BAM.
-
October 10th, 2012 - George Heymont for the Huffington Post reviews Bible-NOT! Stories for Grown-Ups written by Charley Lerrigo
(as well as a few others in the SF Fringe Festival)I will forever remember that show as the show where I had to where nothing but a fig-leaf thong. That was probably the closest I'll ever be to having abs.

June 9th, 2010 - Rachel Swan of the East Bay Express reviews 1001 written by Jason Grote
I won't take credit for blocking... but I will thoroughly take credit for tracking ALL OF THOSE PROPS AND COSTUMES. Which, I guess, does affect blocking, so whoo-hoo! Shout out to my ASM for that production, Sam Callahan.
